In every woman there is a goddess an inner light that may shine and be seen. During these special ceremonies, we explore the deeper wisdom and connection that lies within us all. When we surround ourselves with women and their pure power, we recharge and regain the courage and strength to live fully. It is love that drives us in our singing together. It is magical feminine energy that becomes palpable when we are still. It is the healing power of the group when we are collectively present to a personal story. We are all children of Mother Earth in search of being able to be present to who we really are.
Especially as we get together more often, you discover how to be soft and powerful at the same time. How to love your own body fully and without shame and (re)discover how sensual you are. The women’s ceremony in the sweat lodge is about embracing all that is, who you are and what you want to mean to the world. A magical journey to the inner fire.
What is a sweat lodge?
Sweat lodge ceremonies are inspired by ancient traditions that are still prevalent among various natural peoples. Sweat lodges come in many different sizes and shapes. Also, ceremonies are given differently everywhere. In our way, you become warm, intense and lovingly connected.
You can compare a sweat lodge ceremony to a steam room in a sauna, but in nature. At our eco-sweat hut in Den Ilp, we heat the stones in kilns on green electricity so we don’t put particulate matter in the air or in the hut. A ceremonial fire does burn here. These stones are brought glowing hot into the sweat lodge. In the darkness of the hut, the participants sit around the stones. A bucket of water is brought inside, the “door” is covered with a blanket and the ceremony can begin.
During a ceremony, participants sit in a circle in the dark in the sweat lodge. We bring hot stones from the fire into the circle. Over this we pour water. Meanwhile, mantras are chanted, creating a mystical atmosphere. Because of the warmth created, the darkness and togetherness, it makes a safe space of brotherhood palpable. When the door is open between rounds, things are shared. This has a deeply healing effect for many people. After sharing, we close the door again and sing together for integration. This several rounds in a row. All in all, a great and unforgettable experience.
It is a full-day program. So we build the hut together and all of us hang the blankets back afterwards.
After the women’s circle, we will walk back to the parking lot as a group so you don’t have to go through the woods alone.
The sweat lodge is also called the “womb” of Mother Earth. When we gather here we return to the inner knowing, our intuition, a state of being that we have become increasingly distant from in everyday life.
Twice a month, around the full and around the new moon, we organize special ceremonies for women. To sit around the stones together and remember who we really are. An experience so unique and so healing that it can hardly be explained. Come experience it once, be welcome to our women’s circle. When we come together we are strong and learn from each other.
One longer sweat lodge is offered during the Sweat Lodge Ceremony. This one is less hot, but just as special in another way because of its duration. Women only.
What can you expect from the Women’s sweat lodge ceremony?
The sweat lodges in Den Ilp are located in a food forest created by our care farm De Groene Boerderij.
As a water caster, Amber guides the Sweat Lodge ceremonies (women’s circles) with the help of several female fire-keepers.
Amber has lived for 25 years together her family, dogs, cats, horses, ducks and chickens on 2 acres of “happiness. Learning to live consciously with nature each other and ourselves is her motto. Nature is her great passion and inspiration and for 7 years she and the participants of her care farm have transformed the land into a food forest with sweat lodges and teepee. The sweat lodge gave her a sense of coming home right from the start. Sitting together around the well in hut gave her such peace and immediate connection with herself, that she and her team now offer ecologically based (women’s) huts twice a month to anyone who also desires this. In the teepee, she gives cocoa ceremonies with meditations and sound healing.
