Yoga has more to offer than just postures on a mat. Experience it during this yoga weekend on the Veluwe, organized by Bezielen. Get to know yourself on a deep level and learn to live with attention in practice.
See how meditation, yoga and mindfulness come together in this weekend. It lays the seed for a sustainable, healthy relationship with yourself and your environment.
Introduction
In Western life, we are no longer used to following the voice of our heart. Our mind drowns out the whisper of the heart. We react from our judgments and expectations. Enter into an open encounter with yourself during this yoga weekend.
Learned patterns are made clear, so that you can allow love in. With your commitment it becomes a spiritual experience that works deeply.
On this short yoga retreat you will experience the difference between living on yoga weekend autopilot and living with open attention. Sensations, feelings, thoughts; they come and go. During this weekend you will learn to look at this in a friendly and interested way.
We train in yoga, or union. We do this by exploring the eight steps as written by Patanjali in the yoga sutras: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi.
Our journey is not only through asanas (postures). There is also ample attention for the other components of yoga: self-observation (nyama), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana). In addition to the yoga we practice, the ashram activities play a role in the yoga weekend.
Body, mind, heart and soul: they are all addressed.
The meditation weekend takes place in the ashram Sada Shava Dham in Loenen. Below is a video to get an idea of what the weekend looks like in the ashram.
The ashram is located on the Veluwe as an oasis of peace. It is built on a large piece of land on the edge of the forest, with a beautiful garden. There is also a herb and vegetable garden. You can help with sowing and harvesting through karma yoga.
In recent years, the ashram complex has been expanded with, among other things, a larger temple. This was partly thanks to the help of participants in our weekends, who contributed with karma yoga.
During the meditation weekend we participate in a number of fixed monastic activities in the ashram. An example is the havan (meditation by the fire), the aarti (meditation with mantras) and karma yoga. This consists of physical work at the ashram: helping with cooking and working in the herb and vegetable garden. The goal of karma yoga is to come to meditation through the activity.

Another fixed part of the meditation weekend is karma yoga. This consists of physical work at the ashram, such as helping with Ayurvedic cooking and working in the herb and vegetable garden. The aim of karma yoga is to come to meditation through the activity. We divide the day in two so that rest can be taken in the afternoon. You are always welcome to do your own thing, as long as the ashram is not disturbed. If you would rather skip a workshop or meditation, this is possible in consultation and you can deviate from the program.
The wonderful ashram team supports this yoga, meditation and mindfulness retreat.
The location of the yoga weekend is Loenen, a village on the Veluwezoom. There is plenty of nature in the area. Take one step outside the ashram and you are in a beautiful forest. Of course we will also go for a walk here. The waterfall that you will find in this forest is the highest in the Netherlands with 15 meters.
Another attraction is the steam train , which runs between Apeldoorn and Dieren and also stops at Loenen. So you could even come by steam train! (check the timetable here ) Finally, a stone’s throw from the ashram is the stately sixteenth-century Kasteel Ter Horst.
